Maintenance
Our wooden cutlery is made from natural wood and stainless steel metal without any paint on the surface. When soaked for the first time, the natural pigments of the wood may seep out slightly, which is a normal phenomenon. It is safe and non-toxic and can be used with confidence. After normal maintenance according to the maintenance method, it will generally not happen again.
Instructions for First Use
-
Soak: Before using the cutlery for the first time, soak it in cold salt water for 15 minutes. This will help to remove any natural pigments that may seep out of the wood. After soaking, wash the cutlery with dish soap and rinse it thoroughly.
-
Seasoning: If you want to make the wood grain of the cutlery look even more beautiful, you can season it with oil. After soaking and drying the cutlery, apply a thin layer of food-grade oil (olive oil is best) to the wooden handles. Let the oil soak in for 12 hours. This will help to protect the wood and make it more durable.
General Care Instructions
- Hand wash only: Do not wash the cutlery in the dishwasher. The harsh detergents and high heat can damage the wood.
- Air dry: After washing, air dry the cutlery completely. Do not towel dry, as this can scratch the wood.
- Avoid extreme temperatures: Do not expose the cutlery to extreme heat or cold. This can cause the wood to crack or warp.
- Store in a dry place: Store the cutlery in a dry place when not in use. This will help to prevent the wood from becoming dry or cracked.
Additional Tips
- Use a cutting board: Always use a cutting board when cutting food with the cutlery. This will help to protect the blades and the wood.
- Sharpen the blades regularly: Sharpen the blades of the cutlery regularly to keep them cutting well. This will also help to prevent the blades from chipping.
- Oil the handles occasionally: To keep the wooden handles looking their best, you can oil them occasionally with food-grade oil.
Please note:
- Make sure the cutlery is completely dry before applying oil.
- Do not use too much oil, as this can make the handles greasy.
- If the cutlery is not going to be used for a long period of time, it is a good idea to store it in a cool, dry place.
